Israeli sources reported on Tuesday evening that two Israeli youth were
injured, one seriously, after Palestinian fighters fired homemade
shells into the Israeli Negev town of Sderot.
The two are said to be approximately 14-years old, they were injured in their limbs after a shell landed near a residential building, Israeli online daily Haaretz reported.
The al Quds brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister, Amir Peretz, urged Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert to “void the restraint policy’ and retaliate against the launchers of homemade shells.
Haaretz added Peretz will hold a meeting with the Israeli cabinet on Wednesday to discuss the recent escalation at the Gaza border.
According to Israeli source, fighters fired at least seven homemade shells into Israel on Tuesday, one of the shells landed near a strategic site in the southern port town of Ashkelon.
