Palestinian sources reported on Wednesday that an unknown armed group
fired rounds of live ammunition at a member of Hamas near Borqeen
village, west of Jenin in the northern part of the West Bank; the
member was seriously injured.
A Hamas media spokesperson in the village reported that Issam Al Arabi was injured by several rounds of live ammunition when gunmen opened fire at him on late on Tuesday night.
Al Arabi was transferred first transferred to the Jenin governmental hospital and then to the Nablus governmental hospital due to the seriousness of his condition.
Sheikh Khalid Al Haj, one of Hamas political leaders, railed against the attack and all recent attacks that “aim at creating further internal conflicts among the residents”.
Al Haj called on all residents and members of different factions to have self restraint, adding that dozens of attacks have been carried out recently against members and institutions of Hamas.
He demanded that security devices locate and uncover the assailants who are acting against the Palestinian national interests, and against the internal unity of the Palestinian people.
On the ground, Israeli troops invaded on Wednesday at dawn Qabatia town, south-west of Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank.
The invasion was carried out by more than twenty armored vehicles and jeeps; soldiers broke into and searched dozens of civilian houses and interrogated several youth after forcing them out of their houses despite the cold weather and rain.
Army claims that soldiers were searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
