Head of the Public Employees Union, Bassam Zakarna, stated on Wednesday that the salaries of government employees, security personnel and detainees will be paid on Sunday via the banks.Zakarna appealed the employees not to listen to rumors and only follow the official instructions and statements issued by the Union.
He added that the dates set by the Union and the Ministry of Interior for paying the due salaries are fixed, and that if the ministry does not implement all of the articles of the agreement it signed with the Union, the employees will resume their strike.
Also, Zakarna slammed actions carried out by the government against some employees, especially the Dean of Khaddoury College who was demoted to a head of a department at the ministry of interior due to his participation in the strike.
Zakarna demanded that the Minister of Education void the decision, and refrain from conducting administrative measures against the striking employees.
