The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) condemned Thursday an attack by unknown gunmen on the house of MP Yousef Alsherafi in the northern Gaza Strip.
In a statement released by the PLC, they condemned the attack, and urged all Palestinian factions to abide by the recent agreement to end all forms of internal violence that was reached in the Saudi Arabian city of Makkah two weeks ago.

The press release emphasized the need to swiftly form a national unity government in line with what has been agreed upon over the weekend between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his Prime Minister, Ismail Haniya.

Meanwhile, over the past couple of days various parts of the Palestinian territories have seen a number of incidents, such as the shootout at the house of the Palestinian minister for planning in Nablus city. Some Fatah members in the Gaza Strip town of Bani Sohaila were also shot at, and a small-scale shootout between gunmen on the Salaheldin main road in central Gaza Strip occured.

The said small-scale attacks came about 24 hours after rival Palestinian factions, Fatah and Hamas, agreed to form a national unity government in line with the Makkah deal. The deal agreed to end the internecine infighting that has claimed approximately 100 lives and wounded hundreds others over the past three months.

Palestinian PM Haniya, of the Hamas-led government, quit the cabinet in preparation for the agreed unity government , as constitutional procedures commenced today for the same purpose.
