Israeli Peace Bloc, Gush Shalom, called Monday the ongoing Israeli army attack on the West Bank city of Nablus ‘irresponsible provocative action’, reiterating belief that Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert and his defense minister, Amir Peretz, had proved to be no longer partners of the Palestinians.
In a statement issued by the bloc, “ Olmert and Peretz, together with the hardliner minister, Avigdor Liberman, have proved again that the Israeli government never includes elements capable of restarting serious negotiations with the Palestinians”.
The bloc also believed that the Israeli government’s declared rhetoric towards the Palestinian people, the Arabs and the entire world, has been meaningless, as Israel continues to occupy the Palestinian territories within a ‘repressive policy’.
The Israeli army has been raiding the West Bank city of Nablus since early Monday. One Palestinian man was reportedly killed as more than 100 others were taken prisoners after the Israeli army opened heavy gunfire at residential buildings throughout the city.
