Several Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem held on Sunday a meeting at the Youth Development Center and discussed the continuous Israeli violations that target the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem.The institutions also discussed the means that would preserve the Palestinian national institutions in Jerusalem especially as the Jerusalem Municipality is attempting to void the Arab presence there, and is attempting to annex the Palestinian areas for settlement projects.
The participants affirmed the role of the Palestinian organizations in Jerusalem and demanded the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, all national factions and civil society institutions to place Jerusalem as a top priority in order to create “an alternative that stands firm against the illegal Israeli practices, especially the settlement plans of the Jerusalem Municipality and the Zionist Fund”.
They stated that the Zionist Fund and the Jerusalem Municipality are attempting to empty the Holy city from its Arab and Palestinian residents by annexing the Palestinian area after emptying them from the Palestinian presence and constructing settlements there.
They also stated that several Israeli organizations are attempting to control the city by encouraging its isolation from the Palestinian territories and supporting settlement activities in the city and around it.
