The Al Quds brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility on Tuesday evening of firing several homemade shells at Kfar Azza settlement, east of the Gaza Strip, and Al Majdal town, north of the Gaza Strip. In a press release, the Brigades said that its fighters fired one shell at Kfar Azza Israeli settlement, and that during the day the fighters fired eight other homemade shells at the settlement.
Also, the Brigades added that its fighters fired two homemade shells at Al Majdal town, north of the Gaza Strip.
The Brigades stated that the shelling comes is a natural response to the ongoing Israeli crimes and assaults against the Gaza Strip.
According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR)'s Weekly Report, during the week of 10- 16 January 2008, 22 Palestinians were killed and 51 were injured by the Israeli military in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday, one Palestinian died of wounds sustained in an Israeli military attack in the Gaza Strip on Sunday.
The Al Quds Brigades said that the man, identified as Mohammad Al Ghandor, is one of its fighters.
