The Israeli police force on Tuesday detained Hatem Abdel Qadder, advisor to Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad on Jerusalem affairs.Palestinian sources reported that Al Qadder was leaving his home, located in Shu'fat neighborhood in the eastern part of Jerusalem, when Israeli police forced him into a waiting police car and drove him away.
The sources added that Abdel Qadder was transferred to an interrogation center, said to be managed by the Israeli secret police in the Navah Yakove settlement in the Jerusalem area.
Chairing a meeting of Palestinian and religious officials in Jerusalem on Monday night, Al Qadder reportedly called on senior members of the official Jerusalem council, who work closely with the Israeli authorities, to resign and join a new Palestinian council for Jerusalem affairs .
