The Al-qassam brigades, the armed wing of the ruling Hamas party in Gaza, announced on Tuesday that one of their fighters was killed and two others were wounded in eastern Gaza City.
In a statement, faxed to media outlets, the brigades said that the three causalities were taking part in a Jihad (resistance-like) mission when a blast occurred at a Qassam post in the Shijaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Dr. Mo'awiya Abu Hasanin, chief of the Emergency Department at Gaza's Health Ministry told media outlets that at 2:00 am on Tuesday, Khalil Jundiya , 24, arrived as a dead body at the Alshifa Hospital in Gaza. He added that other two wounded people, including a child, underwent life-saving surgeries. The three causalities were all from the Jundiya family, one of the largest clans in eastern Gaza. Almost three weeks ago, a similar mysterious explosion ripped through a Qassam post in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, causing the death of two Qassam fighters.
