The Israeli Knesset debated and passed a new bill on Monday evening to ensure compensations are paid to Jews who are “refugees” from Iran and other Arab states as part of any future peace deal.

The bill was proposed by Shas member of Knesset, Nissim Ze’ev. It calls for compensating “the loss of property” for the Jews as part of peace talks, even if a peace agreement did not require this type of compensation.

The bill is meant to provide compensation for Jews from Iran and other Arab countries.

While Israel is debating the so-called compensation and the Jews right to return to the country, it continues to ignore the right of millions of Palestinian refugees forced out of their homes and lands so that Israel can be created.

Israel refuses to recognize the internationally guaranteed Right of Return of the Palestinian refugees as stated Article 11 of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194.

In 1950, Israel enacted the so-called Law of Return which grants Jews the right
to “return” and settle in the country. The law was amended in 1970 to allow the child and the grandchild of a Jew, and a spouse of a child of a Jew, the spouse of a grandchild of a Jew to “return to Israel”.

The Israeli government grants Israeli citizenship to Jews around the globe upon request, while the ingenious Palestinians and their spouses are not granted the right of return to their country.
