Israeli army sources reported Sunday that soldiers fired at two Palestinians, believed to be armed, who approached the Kissufim Crossing; no injuries were reported. Palestinian media sources said that the army bombardment areas along the Gaza border, and that the army also fried artillery shells at areas in central Gaza.
The army claimed that the Palestinians were on their way to attack Israeli soldiers along the border.
Two Israeli soldiers were killed before the end of last month when Palestinian fighters clashed with an army unit near the border fence. Two more soldiers were wounded and two Palestinian fighters were killed during the clashes.
Khalid Mashal, head of the Political Bureau of Hamas in Syria, stated that all options are open in the fight with Israel, and that the “Palestinian resistance will do everything in order to obtain the Palestinian legitimate rights stolen by Israel”.
