Hisham Yousef, assistant Arab League Secretary-General, left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah terminal later on Thursday at night after conducting a short visit to observe the preparations for the official visit of Arab League Secretary-General, Amro Mousa.Yousef held meetings with several officials in Gaza, businessmen, representatives of the private sector and John Ging, director of operations in Gaza for the UN Refugee and Works Agency.
The main subject of the talks was Palestinian reconciliation, ending the siege on Gaza and reconstruction.
Yousef said that achieving national reconciliation is an essential issue, and that Egypt will push for a comprehensive reconciliation deal.
Dr. Yasser al-Wadia, representative of the independent figures in Gaza, said that Yousef made sure all arrangements are ready for the visit of Amro Mousa scheduled to arrive in Gaza this coming Sunday.
