The Israeli Prison Authorities decided to renew the administrative detention order against elected legislator, Dr. Mahmoud Al Ramahi, for additional six months. Al Ramahi was placed under administrative detention, without charges, six months ago and was supposed to be released on Monday. The International Campaign for Releasing Detained Legislators slammed the international idleness regarding the issue of imprisoned legislators, and the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their elected officials.
The Campaign said that these arrests are illegal, violate the international law and the Fourth Geneva Conventions.
The Hamas Change and Reform Bloc at the Legislative Council denounced the Israeli order against Al Ramahi, and said that this order is another “Israeli piracy that targets the newly signed Palestinian unity agreement”.
The Bloc added that the Israeli violations and the abduction of elected legislators and officials will only lead to more unity and steadfastness.
It is worth mentioning that Israel is still holding captive 14 elected legislators.
