Arab League Peace monitors arrive in Syria to confirm Assad is ceasing his military campaign against the protesters, and a thirteen year old boy is shot in Gaza, these stories and more coming up; so stay tuned

Arab League Peace Monitors arrived in the Syrian City of Homs on Tuesday, after Syrian government tanks left the area, which had be subjected to nine months of unrest and military crackdowns, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of protesters.

The team are checking to see if President Assad is keeping his promise to cease military action to crush the demonstrations. According to the United Nations, five thousand people have been killed since March.

Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Khaled Mashal, stated that the movement supports the Syrian President, Bashar Assad, as he ‘’ supported the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian people in every possible way”.

He added that Hamas “Respects and supports the Syrian President and the Syrian People “.

He further confirmed that the leadership of Hamas is still based in Syria, and that he personally travels to Damascus despite the fact that some Hamas leaders left the country “due to social issues, or due to the requirements of their jobs.’

In other news Danny Danon, a member of the Knesset for the Likud party, has presented a draft for a new legislation which calls for the firing of any member of the Knesset who refuses to recognize Israel as a Democratic Jewish State, or supports organisations considered hostile and terrorist

The Likud party is headed by the current Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who formed his coalition government by offering fundamentalist parties, such as Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel is Our Home), senior positions

The draft bill states that should at least thirty members of Knesset sign a document demanding the state to fire an MK, and should a majority vote approve the document, it will be sent to the higher committee of the Knesset where it needs a majority of eighty votes to pass.

It is worth mentioning that Danon chairs the Knesset Aliya Committee that works on encouraging Jewish immigration into the country.

Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip have reported that a 13 year old boy, identified as Mohammad Al-Tilbani, has been shot in the leg at noon during an incursion by the Israeli military.

The Salah Ed-Deen Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, stated that its fighters exchanged fire earlier on in the day with Israeli soldiers who entered the area. It is as of yet unconfirmed if the two incidents are linked.
