The Palestinian News Network, PNN, reports that a number of international organizations working in the Occupied Palestinian territories have stated that the Israeli military has demolished many of their European-funded development projects.According to the report prepared by international non-governmental organizations, Israel has demolished dozens of their West Bank development projects funded by the European Union during the last year.
Among these projects were two water tanks in the Hebron area for which France supplied most of the construction costs.
The report noted that the military stated for its part that Israel only demolishes buildings constructed without a permit.
In the case of water facilities Israeli permits are required for any construction anywhere in the West Bank, however small, and are almost never given. The same applies in Area C, the 60% of the West Bank where Israel was given full civil and military responsibility on a temporary basis by the Oslo Accords of the mid-1990s.
