Palestinian medical sources in occupied East Jerusalem reported that four Palestinian youths have been wounded, on Thursday evening, in Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in the city after the army invaded it. The clashes started after Israeli soldiers and policemen assaulted nonviolent protesters who marched in solidarity with detainee Samer Al-Eesawy who conducted a 176 hunger strike and recently suspended it for 10 days due to a sharp deterioration in his health condition.
The army fired gas bombs and rubber-coated bullets at the residents leading to four mild-to-moderate injuries.
In related news, Israeli military sources reported that one soldier was injured, on Thursday evening, after a number of youths hurled a Molotov cocktail at an Israeli military vehicle in Beit Ummar town, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
The sources said that the soldier was treated by military medics, and that his injury did not require hospitalization. The army conducted a search campaign in the area; no arrests were reported.
