Israeli soldiers kidnapped nine Palestinian civilians during dawn invasions on Monday targeting a number of West Bank communities.
Palestinian sources reported invasions and kidnappings in the cities of Bethlehem and Hebron, southern West Bank as well as Nablus and Tulkarem in the north.
Troops searched and ransacked homes during the invasions before taking the nine men to unknown destination. The army gave no reason for the kidnappings.
In related news the Ahrar Center for Detainees Studies and Human Rights reported on Monday that Israeli soldiers kidnapped 1790 Palestinians in the first six months of this year. This number includes 300 who were kidnapped in June, and added that 16 Palestinians have also been shot and killed by Israeli military fire in six months.
The Ahrar Center said that dozens of women, children, elderly, legislators, intellectuals and journalists were among the kidnapped.
The center added that the arrests took place in every part of the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, in addition to 25 arrests in the Gaza Strip, including fishermen and five arrests on border terminals.
In other news a group of radical Israeli settlers and some 60 female Israeli soldiers stormed on Monday midday al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem old city.
Local sources reported that Israeli police officers also provided protection for the settlers and the soldiers as they toured the mosque.
In a press release the Aqsa association for heritage announced that the daily invasions of settlers and soldiers targeting al Aqsa mosque are escalating and feared that this will pave the way for the settlers to take over the Muslim holy site.
