Israeli military sources claimed Monday [October 21, 2013] that Israeli soldiers, manning the border with Gaza, managed to uncover a high velocity explosive charge, near Kissufim area, on the border with the Gaza Strip.The army said that explosive experts were called to the scene and defused the object without any incidents.
On its webpage, the Israeli military stated that the explosive was powerful enough to cause serious damage, and casualties, even if hit soldiers in well-fortified military vehicles.
It said that the explosive was located during a routine check carried out by soldiers of the Golani Brigade, operating in the border area.
An Israeli officer of the Southern Brigade said that the explosive is part of ongoing attempts by armed Palestinian resistance groups aiming at harming Israeli soldiers operating in the area.
