Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org, for Wednesday January 15, 2014.
Israeli troops’ injuries a Palestinian teenager during clashes in the West Bank and tanks invade parts of the Gaza Strip. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.
One Palestinian teenager was injured on Wednesday afternoon by Israeli army gunfire at Ayida refugee camp, in the southern West bank city of Bethlehem.
Local sources said that Israeli troops fired live rounds and rubber-coated steel bullets at local youth who responded by throwing stones at soldiers.
Medical sources said that a 19 year old boy was taken to hospital after being hit with a live round in his foot. Many other were treated for the effects of tear gas inhalation.
Elsewhere a number of fanatic Israeli settlers infiltrated into Deir Estia town, near the central West Bank district of Salfit, and burnt the entrance of its mosque before residents noticed the attack and managed to extinguish the fire.
Residents told local media that the settlers managed to burn the main entrance of the mosque, and that the fire reached sections of the mosque’s interior, consuming some if its carpets.
The settlers also wrote racist graffiti, including Price Tag, bloody revenge, and other slurs. The attack comes just a few days after residents of Deir Estia managed to capture seventeen fanatic settlers who infiltrated into the village. Israeli soldiers later took the settlers away.
In Gaza, several Israeli military vehicles carried out a limited invasion into Palestinian agricultural lands, east of Abasan town, east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis.
Armored military vehicles advanced approximately 200 meters into Palestinian lands, and searched them while firing at random, local sources reported.
No clashes were reported prior or after the invasion,
local sources said. The army frequently carries out limited invasions into border areas in the Gaza Strip, and repeatedly bulldozes and uproots Palestinian lands.
