[Tuesday Evening, January 21, 2014] Palestinian Presidency spokesperson Nabil Abu Rodeina denounced a recent Israeli plan to build an additional 381 units of illegal Jewish settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.Abu Rodeina said that there can be no peace with Israel without a full withdrawal from East Jerusalem, and that Israel’s settlements in any part of the occupied territories, including Jerusalem, are illegitimate under International Law and must be removed.
The Palestinian official further stated that this decision demonstrates, once again, that Israel is not interested in real peace with the Palestinians, and is acting in order to foil all efforts which aim at a two-state solution.
“Israel is undermining the American efforts to achieve a comprehensive agreement between Israel and the Palestinians”, he said. “Israel’s actions, arrests, settlement activities, invasions and assassinations clearly indicate Israel is not interested in peace and stability”.
His statements came after Israeli Peace Now Movement said that the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved 381 units of illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
