Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org, for Tuesday April 15th, 2014.

Israeli troops kill a Palestinian woman in the West Bank and injure a worker in the Gaza Strip. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.

Noha Qatamish, 40 years of age, died on Monday night at Bethlehem city hospital after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli troops.

Qatamish was suffering from a severe case of allergy. Her respiratory system failed when soldiers fired tear gas into and around her home at Aida refugee camp, in Bethlehem city, local sources reported.

According to local sources Israeli troops have been attacking the camp since Saturday and firing tear gas into residents’ homes and streets.

On Tuesday a Palestinian worker was shot and injured near the Israeli Eriz crossing at the northern borders of the Gaza Strip.

Local sources announced that the man was working n lands close to the borders when troops manning military watch towers opened fire at him. He was moved to a hospital after sustaining moderate wounds.

Israeli troops regularly open gunfire at residents and workers while working at farm lands close of the Israeli borders with Gaza to force them to leave those lands.

In other news, Israeli troops kidnapped on Tuesday a Palestinian man close of the illegal Israeli settlement of Arial in the northern part of the West Bank.

Soldiers claimed that while searching the man they found a knife with him and that he confessed that he wanted to stab an Israeli soldier at the nearby military checkpoint. No Palestinian sources confirmed the Israeli army story.

Elsewhere in the West Bank, Israeli soldiers placed a full siege on the town of Ithna, west of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and initiated a large-scale search campaign that targeted dozens of homes and stores in the town.

Local sources reported that the army attack started on Monday evening after an Israeli settler was shot and killed, and three others were injured, near the town. No Palestinian group claimed responsibility for the attack.
