Earlier Thursday, Israeli occupation forces launched a wide-scale invasion across the occupied West Bank, including the occupied capital, Jerusalem, abducting at least 40 Palestinian citizens, including former prisoners, and subjecting dozens of families to field interrogations and violent home invasions.
According to a statement issued Thursday by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), the majority of abductions and field interrogations were concentrated in the city of Dura, south of Hebron, with most detainees later released. Additional abductions were reported in the governorates of Ramallah, Nablus, and Tulkarem.
The statement emphasized that these abductions were accompanied by widespread home invasions, damage to property and personal belongings, in addition to physical assaults against detainees and their families.
The PPS also noted that Israeli forces have adopted a systematic policy of field interrogation, targeting dozens of families across multiple districts.
Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the number of abductions in the occupied West Bank has reached approximately 20,500 cases.
