A Palestinian man was killed on Wednesday after Israeli forces invaded the town of Jabal al‑Mukabber in occupied Jerusalem, breaking into homes and abducting three young men during a nighttime operation.
The Jerusalem Governorate said 21‑year‑old Qasem Amjad Shqeirat was shot during the invasion and later succumbed to his wounds.
The forces also abducted three Palestinians from the town, including Mohammad Al‑Sabah and Omar Abu Al‑A’mal Shqeirat.
The Israeli police claimed that Shqeirat was shot after allegedly attempting to seize a weapon from an officer during the invasion.
In a statement to the media, the police said units from the Border Guard and undercover forces carried out the nighttime invasion, detaining several Palestinians. The statement added that Shqeirat was “neutralized” and later pronounced dead.
Residents reported that the invasion involved heavily armed forces spreading through several neighborhoods, breaking into homes, and conducting searches that lasted for hours.
The killing comes amid a broader escalation in Israeli invasions, home break‑ins, and abductions across occupied Jerusalem, particularly in neighborhoods targeted by ongoing displacement and property‑seizure campaigns.
In related news, a Palestinian worker was killed, and eight others were injured, one seriously, after Israeli forces and illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers pursued workers’ vehicles and opened live fire at them in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, causing several vehicles to overturn.
The victim was identified as 31‑year‑old Yosri Majed Abu Qbeita, from the town of Yatta. He succumbed to his wounds shortly after being shot during the pursuit.
