Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian young man, on Thursday, after an alleged stabbing attempt at a military roadblock, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

The General Authority of Civil Affairs informed the Palestinian Ministry of Health that the young man, Salah Ziad Issa Shawahin, 23, died after Israeli soldiers shot him with live ammunition near Hebron.

Media sources said that occupation forces shot the young man with live rounds, on Thursday afternoon, before abducting him near the entrance to the “liaison camp” in the southern area of ​​Hebron.

Soldiers proceeded to abduct the wounded young man, claiming he attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against the soldiers there; there were no reports of injuries among the soldiers.

Israeli sources reported that “an armed terrorist with a knife arrived at the entrance to the headquarters of the ‘Yehuda Brigade’. Israeli army soldiers neutralized him. There were no injuries among the soldiers.”

Sources added that the slain Shawahin, a resident of the town of Yatta, south of Hebron and was recently married.

A short time after the shooting, occupation forces notified the slain man’s father and three brothers, Amin, Saleh, and Mohammad appear at an Israeli interrogation center for an intelligence review.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained and harassed journalists in the area, obstructing their work, and confiscated their memory cards before releasing them and forcing them to leave the area.

Since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 723 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 160 children, and injured 6,200.

The distribution of those killed in the West Bank is as follows; 196 in Jenin, 152 in Tulkarem, 75 in Nablus, 74 in Hebron, 59 in Ramallah, 57 in Tubas, 45 in Jerusalem, 29 in Qalqilia, 19 in Bethlehem, 12 in Jericho, 12 inside Israel, and 4 in Salfit.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 41,689 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, most of whom are women and children, and injured 96,625 citizens, while the bodies of thousands of citizens remained buried under the rubble of the devastated coastal enclave.
