The British Ministry of Defense has deployed a small group of military planning officers to Israel to join a U.S.-led international task force coordinating postwar stabilization efforts in Gaza following ceasefire.

The newly formed unit, known as the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), was initiated by the United States reportedly “to help maintain security and stability in Gaza during the post-conflict period.” However, the force’s composition, leadership structure, and legal framework remain under negotiation among participating countries.

The United States has pledged up to 200 support troops to assist the CMCC, though they will not be deployed inside Gaza. Washington is also in discussions with several Arab and Muslim-majority countries—including Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and Azerbaijan—regarding potential contributions to the mission.

A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defense confirmed that “a small number of British planning officers, including a two-star deputy commander, have been embedded in the force as part of U.S.-led planning efforts.”

The deployment is intended to ensure Britain remains fully integrated in strategic postwar planning alongside Washington.

In an official statement, the UK government said: “The United Kingdom continues to work with international partners to support the ceasefire in Gaza and to explore how it can contribute more effectively to the peace process.”

British Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized that the UK brings “specialist experience and unique capabilities that can support international efforts.”

He noted that while Britain will not lead the mission, it will participate actively, and that the deployment was made in response to a formal request from the United States.
