On Saturday, day 295 of Israel’s ongoing assault on the entire population of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces committed another massacre, which marks the fifth school massacre by Israeli forces in July alone — bombing a school filled with displaced Palestinian families, killing at least 53 and wounding dozens more. In addition, Israeli forces are bombing civilians as they are fleeing Khan Younis under military orders – an unknown number have been killed there.

In the latest school massacre, the attack came on the Khadija School in Dir al-Balah, in central Gaza, which currently shelters thousands of displaced people.

The school is located in the west of Deir al-Balah, and today’s bombing resulted in the deaths of at least 30 civilians, including children and women, in addition to dozens being seriously injured.

Ambulance and civil defense crews continue to rescue survivors, and the number of deaths is likely to rise at any time. The injured were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which has become crowded with wounded.

This follows a similar school massacre on July 14, when Israeli forces bombed the Abu Oreiban School in the Nuseirat camp, which houses a large number of displaced persons, killing at least 14.

On July 13, at least 90 Palestinians were killed in the Mawasi tent camp of displaced Palestinians, located near Khan Younis, and at least 20 were killed in al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, in bombings by Israeli forces.

The massacre of civilians in Dir al-Balah on Saturday drew immediate condemnation from the Arab League and from the Iraqi Foreign Minister, who said, “This massacre is a continuation of the hostile acts and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against unarmed civilians, stressing the necessity for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to stop the occupation from continuing its aggressive operations, ignoring the relevant UN Security Council resolutions .

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all countries to stand firmly against these criminal acts and military escalation, and to work seriously in international forums to pressure the occupation to stop its violations and comply with international laws.

From the scene of the massacre Saturday:

Continuing with the Israeli war crimes committed on Saturday July 27, 2024:

Israeli occupation warplanes launched two raids on Ahmed Al-Kurd School, adjacent to Khadija School, which resulted in the injury of passersby.

A number of civilians were injured, Saturday morning, due to the Israeli occupation forces’ shelling and shooting in Khan Younis city and Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

A Wafa news correspondent reported that a number of civilians were injured as a result of the occupation helicopter bombing of a house west of Al-Nuseirat camp, and others were injured as a result of gunfire towards the Qizan Rashwan area south of Khan Younis.

According to local sources, Israeli airstrikes targeted Palestinian civilians as they were fleeing from Khan Younis under Israeli orders, looking for somewhere safe to go.

Over the past four days, 180,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from Khan Younis, according to the UN humanitarian affairs office. Israeli forces have shown no signs of ending or reducing their collective punishment of all Palestinian people living in the Israeli-occupied territories, and Israeli politicians have vowed to continue until Gaza is completely destroyed.

This is despite a ruling by the International Court of Justice nine days ago declaring that the entire apparatus of the Israeli military occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and should be dismantled, with reparations paid to Palestinians whose land was forcibly taken by the Israeli occupying forces.

The Israeli occupation has continued its aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of 39,175 citizens, the majority of whom were women and children, and the injury of 90,403 others, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and rescue crews cannot reach them.
