On Thursday, Day 349 of the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, Israeli missiles and shells killed and injured dozens of Palestinians, including children and women, across the starved, besieged, and destroyed coastal enclave.

Medical sources reported that at least five Palestinians were killed and several others were injured with varying degrees of severity following the targeting of a house on Al-Thalathini Street in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.

Additionally, two citizens were killed and several others were injured when the Israeli army bombarded a house belonging to the Shahin family opposite the Al-Shurabji Mosque in the Jabalia refugee camp, north of the Gaza Strip. They were transferred to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the refugee camp.

The army also fired several tank shells at the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City and the Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, in the southernmost part of the coastal region.

ِAl-Jazeera correspondent has reported that several Palestinians were injured after Israeli soldiers fired at tents of displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Rafah.

Al-Mawasi, a coastal Palestinian area in the southwest of the Gaza Strip, was once renowned for its fertile agricultural lands and fresh groundwater.

However, due to illegal Israeli policies and constant bombings of the coastal enclave, it has transformed from the “food basket of the Gaza Strip” into barren lands and makeshift camps for displaced Palestinians from various parts of the region.

Furthermore, the municipality of Al-Zawaida, in central Gaza, announced Thursday morning that the central sewage pumping station is out of service due to the unavailability of necessary spare parts for maintenance.

This has led to street closures and sewage water entering the tents of displaced persons. The municipality has called on relevant organizations to provide assistance to prevent what it described as a disaster.

Furthermore, Palestinian medics located the corpses of about ten Palestinians under the rubble of bombarded homes in the Al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding that Israel end its “unlawful presence” in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The resolution, which passed with 124 votes in favor, 14 against, and 43 abstentions, calls for Israel to:

  • Withdraw its military forces from the occupied territories.
  • Cease all new colonialist activities.
  • Dismantle parts of the Annexation Wall constructed inside the occupied West Bank.
  • Return land and other immovable property seized since the occupation began in 1967.
  • Allow all Palestinians displaced during the occupation to return to their place of origin.
  • Provide reparations for the damage caused by the occupation.

The resolution also proposes the establishment of an international mechanism to address these reparations.

This follows an advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in July, which declared Israel’s continued presence in the Territory as unlawful.

Many Arab countries have welcomed the United Nations’ adoption of the resolution, describing it as a step forward in ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

It is worth mentioning that Israeli Radio said that Israel is preparing what is called a “ceasefire proposal” for mediators, which involves the release of all Israeli captives at once.

The proposal includes “allowing” Hamas leader, Yahia Sinwar, and others to leave Gaza through safe passage,” aka to be exiled, in addition to stipulating ending the war and releasing Palestinian detainees, without specifying numbers or names, or whether those detainees are sentenced to life terms and have already spent many years in Israeli captivity, including many political leaders and elected officials.

Since October 7, 2023, 1,143 Israelis, including 713 soldiers, have been killed, among them around 346 soldiers who were killed since Israel began the ground onslaught on Gaza on October 27, 2023.

Israel has now killed at least 41,272 people, including 16,673 children, 11,269 women, 888 medical staff, 203 UNRWA workers, and 172 journalists, and injured more than 95,551, the majority of whom are children, women, and elderly, since the beginning of the aggression on the coastal enclave on October 7, 2023.

The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000 when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
