In Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, at least one Palestinian was killed, and many were injured, when the army bombarded a home in the Manshiyya area.

The Palestinian Civil Defense said its work in northern Gaza has been halted due to ongoing Israeli bombings and attacks against its teams and added that the army has abducted nine medics.

It stated that dozens of thousands of Palestinians in northern Gaza remain without any medical or humanitarian aid.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that approximately 70% of the victims of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip are children and women, indicating a “systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, including distinction and proportionality.”

This was detailed in a report published by the Commission on Friday, covering violations from November 2023 to April 2024, which “deeply details the killing of civilians and violations of international law, which may often amount to war crimes.”

The report stated that “the International Court of Justice, in a series of orders regarding provisional measures, confirmed Israel’s international obligations to prevent acts of genocide and associated prohibited practices, protect against them, and punish the perpetrators.”

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, emphasized the need for Israel’s full and immediate compliance with these obligations, stating that “this matter has become more important and urgent, considering the overall behavior mentioned in the report and taking into account the latest developments, including Israel’s operations in northern Gaza and its legislation affecting UNRWA activities.”

He stressed that “there must be due accountability considering the allegations of serious violations of international law through credible and impartial judicial bodies, and in the meantime, all relevant information and evidence must be collected and preserved.”

The High Commissioner reminded “the duty of states to act to prevent atrocities” and urged them to support the work of accountability mechanisms, including the International Criminal Court, as well as exercising universal jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute perpetrators of crimes in national courts under international law and in line with international standards.

The report also highlighted “repeated statements from Israeli officials linking the end of the conflict to the complete destruction of Gaza and the departure of the Palestinian people. It documents efforts aimed at justifying discrimination, aggressive actions, and violence against Palestinians, even to the point of genocide.”

The report explained “the heavy burden borne by civilians as a result of the attacks,” including the complete blockade imposed by Israeli forces on Gaza, as well as the Israeli government’s unlawful refusal to allow humanitarian aid and the ongoing destruction of civilian infrastructure and repeated mass displacement.

It pointed out that these actions by Israeli forces have led to unprecedented levels of death, injury, hunger, disease, and epidemics.

The report raised “concerns about forced displacement, systematic attacks on hospitals, journalists, and reports on the use of white phosphorus.”

The High Commissioner called on member states “to assess arms sales or transfers and provide military, logistical, or financial support in accordance with their international law obligations, with the aim of ending this support if it poses a risk of violating international law.”

He stated, “Our monitoring indicates that this unprecedented level of civilian deaths and injuries is a direct result of non-compliance with the basic principles of international humanitarian law,” adding, “Unfortunately, these documented patterns of violations continue unabated, more than a year after the war began,” stressing that “violence must be stopped immediately, and the focus should be on the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

Palestinian medical sources said the Israeli army killed more than 21 Palestinians, and injured dozens, and added that 14 of the slain Palestinians were killed in northern Gaza, at dawn, Saturday.

The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in the killing of 43,552 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children, and the injury of 102,765 others, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.
