Early Monday, an elderly Palestinian woman from the town of Jayyous, east of Qalqilia in the northern West Bank, died from injuries she sustained after Israeli occupation soldiers stormed her home and assaulted her during at dawn.
Medical and local sources confirmed the death of Sabriya Amin Shamasna, 68, after she was transferred in critical condition to a hospital in Qalqilia, where doctors later pronounced her dead after suffering a fatal heart attack.
Residents reported that Israeli soldiers invaded Jayyous shortly before sunrise, storming several homes, ransacking their contents, and assaulting the occupants.
Among the homes targeted was the house of the elderly woman and her husband, where soldiers assaulted her, causing life‑threatening injuries before she suffered a fatal heart attack.
Mithqal al‑Jayyousi said his aunt “was killed after being beaten by Israeli soldiers during the invasion of Jayyous.”
He added that the soldiers “wreaked havoc inside her home and four other houses, assaulting residents and causing extensive damage.”
The invasion and assault come amid a sharp escalation in Israeli military incursions across the West Bank, where soldiers have increasingly used force against civilians during home invasions, searches, and abductions.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that such practices constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law, particularly the protections afforded to civilians and elderly persons under occupation.
The killing of Sabriya Shamasna adds to the growing number of Palestinians who have died as a result of physical assaults by Israeli forces during home invasions, a pattern that has intensified alongside the rise in military operations across the occupied West Bank.
