Israeli forces continued their daily violations of the ceasefire that went into effect at the beginning of October in the Gaza Strip.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister says ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire place mediators in a difficult position, noting that continued Israeli bombardment and assassinations in Gaza were raised with concerned parties. He stressed that humanitarian aid must reach Gaza without conditions, and rejects any stabilization force that protects one side over the other.
A number of citizens were injured, one of them described as critical, as a result of the Israeli occupation army’s bombing of the center of Gaza City.
A Wafa news correspondent reported that the occupation drones bombed a group of citizens and a civilian vehicle at the Samer Junction in central Gaza City, wounding a number of them with varying injuries, one of which was described as critical.
Israeli occupation artillery shelled areas east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Ten freed Palestinian prisoners arrive at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza. All had been held in the notorious Sde Teiman prison. They all required medical treatment after being tortured in Israeli custody.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” renewed, today, Wednesday, its call to bring humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip immediately, in light of the repercussions of the harsh weather conditions.
The agency said , “The severe weather conditions exacerbate the already deteriorating living conditions of thousands of people who live in tents or damaged housing. While UNRWA continues to support displaced families, the Israeli authorities have continued for months to prevent UNRWA from bringing aid directly into Gaza”.
The statement continued, “Deaths are reported as a result of the collapse of damaged buildings where families were sheltering, and children have also reportedly died as a result of the extreme cold,” according to the agency.
The agency stressed that this situation must be put to an end, by immediately allowing aid to enter “on a large scale”.
The United Nations warns of a growing risk to newborn babies in Gaza as a severe cold wave hits the Strip amid ongoing Israeli restrictions on aid entry.
It says recent heavy rain and freezing temperatures have worsened already dire humanitarian conditions, with hypothermia among newborns becoming an increasingly serious concern.
