A young Palestinian girl was killed, and a child and a woman were injured on Tuesday afternoon in separate incidents in central and southern Gaza, as Palestinians continue to be killed and injured despite the declared “ceasefire.”
Medical sources said a child was injured when an Israeli drone fired at the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The strike hit an area where displaced families had taken shelter after being forced from other parts of Gaza.
In the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah city, in Gaza’s southmost part, a young girl was killed, and several displaced civilians were injured when a wall collapsed onto tents sheltering families.
The wall belonged to a property that had been previously bombarded and structurally weakened, and it gave way onto the tents amid harsh winter conditions. The collapse crushed the girl and injured others who had believed they were in a relatively safe area.
In a separate incident in central Gaza, a woman was shot in the back by Israeli forces east of Deir al-Balah.
Local sources said she was hit by live fire in an area close to the Israeli-imposed “Yellow Line,” where Israeli forces continue to enforce a lethal perimeter despite the “ceasefire.”
A day earlier, Israeli gunboats killed a Palestinian fisherman, Mohammad Adnan Bakr, off the Gaza coast.
Medical sources said the fisherman drowned in the Gaza Sea after Israeli gunboats chased fishing boats off the coast of Gaza City
Medical crews and civil defense workers said their operations are being severely hampered by the combination of ongoing Israeli fire, widespread destruction, and winter storms.
Flooding, intense winds, and damaged infrastructure have made it harder to reach injured people and to stabilize bombarded and partially destroyed buildings, many of which are at constant risk of collapse.
Since the “ceasefire” went into effect in October, the number of Palestinians killed has risen to at least 414, while total injuries have surpassed 1,100.
In addition, hundreds of bodies have been recovered from rubble and previously inaccessible areas. These figures reflect both direct attacks and deaths caused by the collapse of structures that were damaged in earlier bombardments.
Humanitarian organizations and local authorities warn that the continued Israeli use of live fire, drone attacks, and the enforcement of shifting no-go zones, combined with severe weather and the long-term impact of bombardment on buildings and infrastructure, are turning Gaza into a lethal environment for displaced civilians.
Children, women, and families cramped into tents next to bombarded properties face not only the risk of renewed attacks, but also the constant threat that weakened walls and structures may collapse without warning.
The cumulative toll since the start of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 71,266 killed and 171,222 injured, the majority of whom are children, women, and the elderly.
