On Monday, hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, on the final day of the Sukkot holiday.
Media sources reported that between Monday morning and afternoon, at least 854 illegal Israeli colonizers invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque, under police protection.
The sources added that in several groups, hundreds of settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through the Mughrabi Gate, under police protection, and performed Talmudic rituals.
At the same time, occupation forces restricted Palestinian Muslims from accessing the Islamic holy site, and prevented a number of them from entering.
Jerusalemite sources reported that over the seven days of the Sukkot holiday, more than 6,250 illegal colonizers have stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque and roamed its courtyards.
According to the Al-Haq Human Rights Organization, in 2013, the Palestinian Authority (PA) signed a bilateral agreement with Jordan asserting Jordan’s custodianship of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and other Jerusalem holy sites.
According to United Nations Security Council Resolution 271 from September 15, 1969 states that “any act of destruction or profanation of the Holy Places, religious buildings and sites in Jerusalem or any encouragement of, or connivance at, any such act may seriously endanger international peace and security.”
