On Thursday, the Israeli army announced that it has enhanced what it called “the alertness and readiness” of its forces deployed across the occupied West Bank, specifically in the areas known as the “seam zone,” between the Green Line and the Annexation Wall.
The army has confirmed that it has already implemented various security measures and deployment in the areas between the Wall and the city of Tulkarem, in the northwestern West Bank.
The measures do not stop at installing additional roadblocks and increasing military deployments but also include extensive invasions, abductions, ambushes, and boosting “intelligence surveillance.”
In collaboration with the Air Force, and the “West Bank Division”, the Israeli army has conducted a series of military drills to “enhance its capabilities” in dealing with what it called “potential attacks and breeches of the Annexation Wall.”
The Israeli army has stated that these actions are “in response to recent shooting incidents targeting Israeli colonies and the soldiers,” especially near the Wall, which falls under the control of the Menashe Brigade (operating in the areas of Tulkarem and Jenin).
It said that it intends to increase its operations aimed at abducting Palestinian fighters, and what it called “wanted persons planning attacks,” and added that, in its recent invasions, it confiscated cash, vehicles, and weapons, and abducted at least 40 Palestinians.
On Wednesday night, the army invaded and ransacked two currency exchange shops, and confiscated cash, after claiming they were “involved in funding attacks” against the soldiers and the illegal colonizers in the Ramallah area, in the central West Bank.
The army claimed that its soldiers confiscated more than 400.000 shekels and a firearm, and abducted thirteen Palestinians in various parts of the West Bank.
Israel has now killed 521 Palestinians, including 130 children, while 20 Palestinians have been killed by illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers, in various regions of the occupied West Bank, since October 7, 2023.
In the Gaza Strip, the army has now killed at least 36.224 Palestinians and injured more than 81.420, mostly women, children, and elders, in several parts of the destroyed, besieged, and impoverished coastal enclave, since October 7, 2023.
