On Tuesday, Israeli forces issued a demolition order targeting a two‑kilometer electricity network in the Bir al‑Balouta area west of Ethna, northwest of Hebron in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, a move that threatens to cut power to homes and facilities and deepen the community’s isolation.
The order affects a stretch of infrastructure that supplies electricity to several houses and small establishments.
Residents said dismantling the network would immediately disrupt daily life, halt basic services, and force families to rely on costly or unreliable alternatives.
The area already suffers from repeated Israeli restrictions, violations, and limited access to essential utilities.
The Ethna Municipality said the order is part of a broader pattern of demolitions targeting homes, agricultural structures, and economic facilities across the town.
It stressed that removing the electricity network constitutes a direct violation of residents’ rights and adds to the mounting humanitarian and economic pressure on the community.
Municipal officials warned that the measure would leave families without lighting, refrigeration, heating, and the ability to operate machinery or maintain small businesses, further undermining stability in an area already facing continuous Israeli actions against local infrastructure.
