On Sunday evening, Illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers attacked the Bedouin community of Khallet as‑Sidra, near the town of Mikhmas northeast of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, vandalizing residents’ property.
The Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement that around 15 colonizers stormed the encampment and stole solar‑powered lighting units.
The governorate noted that the same community had been attacked the previous night when colonizers threw stones at residential structures.
According to the statement, Khallet as‑Sidra is encircled by six colonial outposts, from which organized groups of colonizers launch repeated attacks, including arson, theft and physical assaults, aimed at pressuring residents and pushing them to abandon their land.
The governorate stressed that the ongoing assaults on Bedouin communities around Jerusalem form part of a broader strategy to empty the area of its Palestinian population, calling for urgent protection measures.
The Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission reported that Israeli forces and colonizers carried out 2,144 attacks during November alone.
Of these, 1,523 were carried out by the Israeli military, while colonizers were responsible for 621 attacks.
The highest concentrations of attack were recorded in the governorates of Ramallah and al‑Bireh (360), Hebron (348), Bethlehem (342), and Nablus (334).
Bedouin communities northeast of Jerusalem — including Khan al‑Ahmar, Mikhmas, Jaba’, and the surrounding encampments — are among the most targeted areas due to Israel’s long‑standing plans to expand the E1 colonialist project, which aims to link Ma’ale Adumim with Jerusalem and sever the northern and southern West Bank.
Human rights organizations, including UN OCHA, have repeatedly warned that the pattern of attacks, combined with military demolitions and movement restrictions, constitutes coercive environment practices designed to displace communities.
Khallet as‑Sidra has faced multiple incidents in recent years involving property destruction, livestock harassment, and attempts to block access roads.
