Israeli occupation forces have continued their assault on the city of Tulkarem and Tulkarem refugee camp for the 45th consecutive day, and the 32nd day on Nur Shams refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern part, amid unprecedented military escalation.
This includes heavy reinforcements, strict siege, widespread home invasions, abduction, destruction of homes and property, and forced displacement of.
Media source reported, Wednesday morning, that Israeli forced many families in the Jabal Al-Nasr neighborhood of Nur Shams camp to leave their homes after invading them, amid heavy gunfire.
They added that the soldiers also occupied several homes and transformed them into military barracks and monitoring towers.
In addition, the army deployed foot patrols around the camp, while military bulldozers continued to raze Nablus Street adjacent to the camp entrance, destroying infrastructure and citizens’ properties.
Additionally, Tulkarem refugee camp saw a heavy presence of military vehicles and infantry units, which late last night set fire to homes in the Daba Umm Johar area of the Balawna neighborhood, accompanied by explosions and heavy gunfire.
Meanwhile, Israeli military bulldozers began razing several areas, including the Wakala and Hammam neighborhoods, targeting shops, homes, and infrastructure.
Eyewitnesses reported that occupation soldiers are looting shops in Tulkarem camp after bulldozing their doors and vandalizing their contents. They also chased citizens trying to reach their homes, forcing them to strip and abusing them under threat of arms.
In a related context, occupation vehicles spread after midnight in the streets and neighborhoods of the city, including the southern neighborhood, Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital Street, Nablus Street, and the suburbs of Thannaba, Shweika, Ertah, and Ektaba.
Local sources reported that the soldiers abducted Ahmad Ra’fat Ali Zayt from Shweika, Muhab Al-Attar from Ezbet Al-Jarad, and Abdul Rahman Awda from Thannaba, after storming their homes and vandalizing their contents.
Occupation vehicles also stormed the courtyard of the Cultural Sports Club in the northern neighborhood of the city, which houses displaced people from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, and stationed themselves at its gate and surroundings.
The Ektaba suburb witnessed vehicle inspections by occupation soldiers, particularly in the Employees’ Housing neighborhood opposite Nur Shams camp, amid abuse of passengers and field interrogations.
The occupation forces, with their heavy machinery and bulldozers, reinforced their military presence in front of the homes they seized on Nablus Street, which connects Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, turning them into military barracks and setting up mobile checkpoints to restrict citizens’ movement.
The ongoing aggression on the city and camps has so far resulted in killing 13 citizens, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant, in addition to the injury and abduction of dozens, and the forced displacement of more than 9,000 people from Nur Shams camp and 12,000 people from Tulkarem camp, accompanied by widespread destruction of infrastructure, homes, and shops, which were subjected to total and partial demolition, burning, and vandalism.
The Israeli army has now killed 865 Palestinians, including 180 children: 240 in Jenin, 197 in Tulkarem, 97 in Nablus, 77 in Hebron, 72 in Tubas, 59 in Ramallah, 33 in Qalqilia, 31 in Jerusalem suburbs, 20 in Jerusalem, 4 in Salfit, and 12 in Jericho and the Northern Plains.
In the Gaza Strip, Israel has now killed at least 48,503 Palestinians, including more than 17,881 children and 12,298 women, and injured more than 111,927, mostly children and women. Additionally, thousands of Palestinians are missing, largely under the rubble, in various parts of the devastated coastal enclave since October 7, 2023.
