Israeli occupation forces shot and injured a Palestinian woman on Saturday in the Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, amid ongoing violations across the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources said the woman was wounded after Israeli forces stationed in the eastern areas of Tuffah opened fire toward displaced Palestinian civilians.

The sources added that she sustained gunshot wounds and was transferred to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately known at the time of this report.

Shortly after the shooting, an Israeli airstrike targeted the eastern part of the same neighborhood, causing damage and widespread panic among residents already living under severe conditions and ongoing displacement.

Local residents reported that the gunfire and subsequent airstrike forced families to flee to nearby areas in search of relative safety, despite the lack of secure shelters and the continued risk of further attacks.

On Friday, a Palestinian child was critically wounded after Israeli forces opened fire in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahia.

Humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip remain dire. The prolonged closure of border crossings and severe restrictions on the entry of goods and fuel have deepened shortages of medicine, food, and other basic supplies.

International agencies continue to warn that the blockade and repeated Israeli attacks are exacerbating an already catastrophic situation for displaced and besieged civilians.

Despite repeated appeals from humanitarian organizations and international bodies, Israeli forces continue to carry out attacks and impose restrictions across Gaza, leaving civilians exposed to ongoing danger and deteriorating living conditions.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said that 677 Palestinians have been killed and 1,814 injured since the “ceasefire” was declared in October of 2025.

Many of these casualties occurred in areas where Israeli forces continue to operate, including along Salahuddin Street, the coastal road, and the northern agricultural belt.

Since the start of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the overall toll has risen to approximately 72,253 Palestinians killed and 171,913 injured, the majority women and children.

Data from the Shirin Observatory for Human Rights, which documents Israeli violations through field teams, satellite analysis, and community registries, presents higher figures. The Observatory reports that more than 74,229 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, in addition to at least 171,222 wounded.

It added that more than 6,633 Palestinians have been abducted by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023, including civilians taken from shelters, streets, and hospitals. The Observatory also reported that Israeli bombings have destroyed more than 357,000 residential units and displaced over 2 million of Gaza’s 2.2 million Palestinians.

The variation in casualty figures reported by different Palestinian and international sources is the result of methodology, access, and timing.

Large parts of northern and central Gaza remain inaccessible, and thousands of bodies are still under rubble or in areas cut off by Israeli forces.

The difference between the Health Ministry’s numbers and those of the Shirin Observatory is due to the Health Ministry counting only confirmed deaths that were moved to hospitals, while the Observatory includes deaths in areas that remain inaccessible, neighborhoods that were completely destroyed, and thousands of people still missing under the rubble.

Human rights groups also document deaths reported by families and local committees in zones cut off by Israeli forces, which are not immediately reflected in official medical records presented by the Health Ministry.
