Israeli occupation forces killed, on Monday, a Palestinian man and injured two females, including a child, during an ongoing military incursion into the city of Tulkarem and its two refugee camps; the Nur Shams and Tulkarem camps.
On Monday evening, a Palestinian young man succumbed to critical wounds inflicted on him by Israeli forces in the Thanaba suburb, adjacent to the Tulkarem refugee camp in the northwestern part of the West Bank.
Media sources reported that Israeli forces shot Ammar Abdullah Awfi, 35, on Monday morning while he was near his home in the Thanaba suburb, east of the city.
Soldiers shot the young man in the head with live ammunition, causing critical wounds; he was initially transported to the Al-Isra Specialized Hospital in Tulkarem, and due to the severity of his wounds he was transferred to the Al-Najah Hospital in Nablus, where he was pronounced dead.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its ambulance crews treated a young woman who sustained a shrapnel wound in the hand as a result of live rounds fired by the occupation army in the Tulkarem camp.
It was added that a Palestinian girl, 14, suffered injuries in her shoulder after being attacked by a police dog; she was transferred to the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital.
The PRCS added that it had received calls for injured people inside the camp, however the occupation army prevented its crews from entering the camp.
At approximately 1 am on Monday, a large army force, consisting of at least 50 military vehicles, including four bulldozers, invaded the at approximately 1 am, invaded the city of Tulkarem from its western and southern entrances, roamed its streets and the vicinity of Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital, before heading to the Tulkarem refugee camp.
The army imposed a strict siege on all entrances to the Tulkarem camp, while soldiers deployed in its streets, and carried out a large-scale search campaign, storming dozens of homes.
Media sources said that soldiers detonated the doors of houses, and turned a number of homes into military barracks after detaining their inhabitants inside one room.
The army imposed a curfew on the camp, positioned sharpshooters on the rooftops of tall buildings, while reconnaissance drones flew overhead at low altitudes.
The army invaded, searched, and ransacked many citizens’ homes, and subjected their owners to interrogation, abused them, and terrorized children and women using police dogs.
It was reported that occupation forces handcuffed, blindfolded, interrogated, and abducted dozens of young men, the numbers and identities of whom were not known at the time of writing this report.
It was added that explosions and heavy gunfire were heard, and a power outage affected a large area of the camp and the Thanaba suburb to the east, while there was an interruption in electricity, water, and internet services.
The army prevented journalists from being near the entrances to the camp, forcing them to leave, in addition to causing damage to a PRCS medical point in the Tulkarem camp.
Military bulldozers deliberately destroyed vital infrastructure in the Tulkarem camp, tearing up streets and damaging citizens’ vehicles and homes.
On Saturday, Israeli forces killed five Palestinian young men after bombing a home in the town of Deir Al-Ghusoun, northeast of Tulkarem
Four of the young men were identified as Tamer Fuqaha’, 20, Ala’ Adeeb Shreiteh, 45, Asal Bashir Badran, 42, and Adnan Tayseer Samara, 40.
