Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man, on Sunday morning, and abducted three others, at the “Container” military roadblock, northeast of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank.
Media sources said that occupation forces opened heavy fire at a Palestinian man who allegedly ran towards the soldiers carrying a sharp instrument, and shouting the phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is the greatest).
It was added that the army then blocked ambulances crews from approaching the injured man to provide first aid.
The Arab 48 news website quoted Israeli police who said that there were no injuries reported among Israeli soldiers.
Media sources reported that occupation forces released the body of the slain, Rami Taqatqa, 44, from the town of Beit Fajjar, to a Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) ambulance.
PRCS ambulance crews transported the body to the Al-Hussein Hospital in the city of Beit Jala, northwest of Bethlehem.
On Sunday afternoon, mourners in the Bethlehem governorate carried the body of the slain Taqatqa, a married father of two children, before laying him to rest in his hometown of Beit Fajjar.
The funeral procession began after receiving the body from the Beit Jala Governmental Hospital, where mourners carried the body to his family home in Beit Fajjar, where loved ones said their final goodbyes.
They proceeded to the Grand Mosque in the town where they performed the funeral prayer, before burying him in the town’s cemetery.
Occupation forces closed the Container military roadblock after the shooting, causing a traffic crisis.
It was added that the army also closed the entrances to the nearby Al-‘Eizariya, Abu Dis, and As-Sawahira ash Sharqiya, east of occupied Jerusalem.
Occupation forces invaded the town of Al-‘Ubeidiya, northeast of Bethlehem, and erected a flying military roadblock in Al-Khader town, southeast of the city.
In related news, Israeli forces abducted three Palestinian young men, on Sunday morning, at the Container military roadblock prior to the shooting.
Media sources said that soldiers stopped a vehicle and forcibly removed its three occupants, before abducting them; their identities were not known at the time of writing this report.
