Israeli forces killed a Palestinian young man on Wednesday after an alleged “stabbing attack” at the Tunnels military roadblock, west of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that occupation forces killed the young man Shireen – Qusay Maher Ismail Halaika, 27, and confiscated his body from the Tunnels military roadblock, near Bethlehem.
The Times of Israel reported that Israeli police claimed that the young man attempted to stab Israeli forces before he was shot and “neutralized”; no injuries were reported among those forces.
In a statement, the Israeli police announced that “during an inspection at the location, the suspect presented an identity card, and in the process he took out a knife, after which the checkpoint security personnel opened fire on him, which led to his ‘neutralization’.”
Media sources reported that after soldiers shot Halaika with live ammunition, they denied him medical treatment, leaving him bleeding on the ground; the slain young man is a citizen of the town of Ash-Shuyukh, northeast of Hebron.
In related news, the army killed the young man Mohammad Rajeh Nasrallah, 20, and wounded another, on Tuesday, in the town of Ath-Thaheriya, southwest of Hebron in the southern West Bank.
After invading the town of Ath-Thaheriya on Tuesday evening, occupation forces opened fire with live ammunition, shooting two young men, one of whom seriously wounded.
Soldiers shot Nasrallah in the abdomen with live ammunition causing critical injuries; he later succumbed to his wounds at the Dura Governmental Hospital.
A second young man sustained moderate injuries after soldiers shot him live rounds; he was transported to the hospital by Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) ambulance crews.
Also on Tuesday evening, Israeli forces shot a Palestinian child during the ongoing military operations in the Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.
The PRCS reported that its ambulance crews transported a 13-year-old child to the hospital after he was shot in the leg with live ammunition.
Since the beginning of the Israeli military aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, occupation forces have killed 1110 Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, including 230 children and 24 women.
In the Jenin governorate, 310 Palestinians have been killed, while 213 were killed in Tulkarem, 141 in Nablus, 107 in Hebron, 98 in Tubas, 82 in Ramallah, 61 in Jerusalem, 42 in Qalqilia, 35 in Bethlehem, 13 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, and 8 in Salfit, according to the Shireen Observatory.
