Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man on Friday, in the town of Odala, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry announced that the citizen Baha Abdul-Rahman Rashed (38 years old) after being shot by occupation forces.
Media sources reported that Israeli forces invaded the center of the town of Odala and the vicinity of the Old Mosque while Muslim worshipers were leaving the mosque, sparking protests.
The sources added that the soldiers opened fire with live ammunition, tear gas canisters, and concussion grenades at citizens, striking Rashed in the head with a live round.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its ambulance crews transported a citizen to the hospital after he was shot in the head with live ammunition; he later succumbed to his serious injuries.
Furthermore, a 20‑day‑old infant suffered suffocation; Emad Ahmad, director of the Emergency and Ambulance Center of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Nablus, stated that medical teams treated the infant for gas inhalation following the heavy use of toxic tear gas during the invasion, before transferring him to hospital.
Abdullah Ziayada, head of the Madama village council, confirmed that the forces stormed the village under a barrage of gas fired toward residential homes, causing multiple cases of suffocation among residents.
He added that shop owners in the village center were forced to shut down their businesses under military pressure.
Later, a large crowd of citizens gathered in front of the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus to receive the body of the slain young man.
Media sources said that the mourners carried the body on their shoulders through the streets to the slain man’s home town of Odala.
The participants performed the funeral prayer, while family members and loved ones said their final goodbyes, before laying him to rest.
Since the beginning of the year, Israeli forces and colonizers have killed 254 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank, including 51 children and 7 women.
Since the beginning of the year, occupation forces and illegal settlers have killed 83 Palestinians in Jenin, 46 in Nablus, 31 in Tubas, 25 in Hebron, 22 in Ramallah, 17 in Tulkarem, 10 in Jerusalem, 9 in Bethlehem, 7 in Qalqilia, 3 in Salfit, and 1 in Jericho, according to the Shireen Observatory.
In the Gaza Strip, the overall death toll since October 7, 2023 has increased to 70,125 including women and children, while at least 171,015 Palestinians have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of Israel’s military onslaught.
