Israeli forces raided the Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, late Tuesday, sparking protests during which an 18-year-old Palestinian was shot, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

Witnesses and local media reported that several Israeli military vehicles entered the camp before soldiers fired live ammunition and tear-gas canisters.

The PRCS said the teen was shot in the leg and was treated by its medics at the scene before being transferred to a hospital.

Earlier, soldiers closed the Qalandia checkpoint to traffic, blocking movement between northern Jerusalem and the surrounding areas.

In related news, the soldiers invaded Beita town, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, fired several gas bombs before stopping and searching many cars and interrogating scores of Palestinians while inspecting their ID cards.
