Israeli forces shot and abducted a Palestinian young man on Monday evening, near the town of Qilqis, south of Hebron in the southern West Bank. Earlier, the army assaulted a young man and abducted another in the village of Beit Ula, northwest of the city.
Media sources said that occupation forces opened fire towards a Palestinian young man, shooting him and abducting him at a flying military roadblock near the entrance to the illegal “Beit Hagai” colony, built on citizens’ lands.
Neither the identity or condition of the wounded young man was known at the time of this report. Occupation forces also closed the southern entrances to Hebron city.
The ARAB 48 News Website reported that the army shot the young man under the pretext that he allegedly attempted to carry out a shooting attack against occupation police near the “Beit Hagai” colony south of Hebron.
In a statement, the occupation police said that “one of its members shot a Palestinian after he initiated gunfire towards an Israeli force near the “Beit Hagai” settlement,” and added that “the attacker was neutralized”.
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan 11) reported that the Palestinian “fired at the Israeli force, which responded by firing at the lower part of his body,” but did not provide details regarding his identity or health condition.
In a subsequent statement, Moshe Vinci, the commander of the “Judea and Samaria” brigade said that its forces had stopped a “suspicious” vehicle at the roadblock.
The Ma’an News outlet reported that the police claimed that the young man exited the vehicle and opened fire at police officers, while it added that there were no casualties among police or soldiers. The police published a photo of the alleged weapon found at the scene.
In related news, the army assaulted Palestinian farmers and abducted one in the town of Beit Ula, northwest of Hebron, on Monday afternoon.
Media sources said that a large army force invaded Beit Ula town, and attacked citizens while they were on their agricultural lands west of the town.
The sources added that soldiers assaulted a number of citizens, injuring one, and firing tear gas canisters and concussion grenades at them.
The army also abducted the citizen, Mohannad Al-Amleh, taking him to an undisclosed location.
