Israeli sources have reported, Monday, that an ultra-Orthodox man suffered light wounds after being stabbed near Bab al-‘Amoud (Damascus Gate) in the Old City of Jerusalem, and that the army arrested a Palestinian suspected of carrying out the attack.
Israeli daily Haaretz has reported that paramedics rushed to the scene, and provided the needed treatment to the Israeli man, who was injured in the chest, and moved him to a local hospital.
It added that Israeli Border Guard officers, stationed at the Damascus Gate, heard the shouts of the wounded man, and saw him as he was being stabbed, before the assailant threw away the knife, and tried to escape, but they captured him after a short chase.
The Palestinian, in his twenties, was moved to an interrogation center in Jerusalem.
