Israeli Navy ships opened fire, on Tuesday evening, at Palestinian fishing boats while they were sailing off the southern coast of the besieged Gaza Strip, according to the Fishermen’s Committee.

The committee released a statement revealing that occupation Navy ships fire live ammunition at Palestinian fishermen and their boats while they were fishing, which is their only means of income.

It added that the fishermen were sailing west of the port of Rafah, off the southern coast of the Gaza Strip, in the Mediterranean Sea, within the range dictated by the occupation authorities.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The Gaza Strip, a tiny coastal enclave, isolated from the West Bank, has been under a brutal Israeli blockade of the air, land, and sea, for the past sixteen years.

“The Gaza Strip is the scene of a humanitarian crisis that has nothing to do with natural causes; it is entirely man-made, a direct result of official Israeli policy.” – B’Tselem
