A 9‑year‑old child was injured on Sunday after Israeli occupation soldiers directly fired a sound bomb at her head near Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem in the northwestern West Bank. Dozens of residents also suffered from suffocation due to the heavy use of toxic gas.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed that its medical teams treated the child inside the refugee camp after the army invaded it, stressing the severity of targeting children with such weapons.
The PRCS stated that its medics transported the child to a hospital in Tulkarem city for further treatment and checkup.
Meanwhile, dozens of displaced residents from Nur Shams, joined by international solidarity activists, staged a sit‑in at Jabal al‑Nasr adjacent to the refugee camp, protesting the ongoing onslaught.
They chanted national slogans affirming the right of families to return to their homes from which they were forcibly expelled under the ongoing aggression.
The area witnessed large reinforcements and deployment of Israeli military vehicles and soldiers, who occupied rooftops of seized homes, while surveillance and reconnaissance drones hovered overhead.
Later, the forces fired barrages of toxic gas toward the sit‑in to disperse participants, causing widespread suffocation, particularly among children.
The invasion of Nur Shams camp has now continued for the 288th consecutive day, resulting in forced displacement of residents, widespread demolition of homes, and near‑total destruction of infrastructure. At the same time, Israeli aggression against the city of Tulkarem and its camp has persisted for 301 consecutive days.
