On Monday evening, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian at the northern entrance of Azzoun town, east of Qalqilia, in the occupied West Bank’s northern part.
In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the soldiers fired live rounds, killing Tareq Ziad Daoud, 18.
Media sources said the soldiers fired many live rounds at Palestinians at the Azzoun-Jayyous Bridge, killing Tareq, before holding his body and refusing to allow Palestinian medics to approach him.
The soldiers also installed several military roadblocks near the western entrance of Ezbet At-Tabib village, east of Qalqilia, and closed the Jayyous Bridge.
The Israeli army claimed Tareq was involved in a shooting attack near Qalqilia, leading to the injury of one colonizer.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a statement that Tareq was one of its fighters, and added that he was assassinated by undercover Israeli soldiers.
It is worth mentioning that the main entrance of Jayyous has been blockaded and closed by the Israeli army since October of last year.
Israel has now killed 623 Palestinians, including 145 children and nine women, in several parts of the occupied West Bank, since October 7, 2023.
