On Monday, while covering a non-violent protest in Nour Shams camp in Tulkarem, Al Jazeera cameraman Fadi Yassin was shot in the foot by Israeli forces.

In addition to shooting Yassin, Israeli forces also shot a child with live bullets during the protest.

This isn’t the first time that Yassin was attacked by Israeli forces – his vehicle was shot by Israeli troops in Tulkarem in January 2024 while he was covering the Israeli attacks on the city.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its crews dealt with two injuries in the vicinity of Nour Shams camp, namely those of photojournalist Fadi Yassin (47 years old) who was shot with live ammunition in the foot, and the second of a child (12 years old) who was shot with live ammunition shrapnel in the neck. They were transferred to the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital to complete treatment, and their condition was described as moderate.

The occupation forces also detained journalist Mahmoud Fawzi and subjected him to field investigation, while assaulting citizens by beating and abusing him at gunpoint.

These attacks came after a peaceful protest organized by the people of Nour Shams camp at the Martyr Saif Abu Lebda roundabout near the entrance to the camp, demanding their return to their homes from which they were forcibly displaced for the 283rd consecutive day by Israeli forces.

The troops have continued their tight siege on the camp, which has included the demolition of hundreds of homes, and the complete destruction of roads and infrastructure in the camp.
