On Sunday, Israeli forces expanded their aggression against the Jenin governorate, sending tanks into Jenin city, and carrying out a large-scale invasion into the town of Qabatiya town, south of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
Media sources said that occupation forces invaded the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, while soldiers broke into many residential buildings and citizens’ homes, searched them, and interrogating their residents.
Sources added that occupation bulldozers razed streets and infrastructure in Qabatiya town, closing the road leading to Jenin, while Israeli sharpshooters were deployed on the rooftops of tall buildings.
On Sunday morning, military bulldozers damaged electricity and water lines in Qabatiya town, affecting several neighborhoods, in addition to destroying citizens’ vehicles and property.
The army destroyed the Martyrs’ Roundabout at the town’s entrance, razed streets leading to Jenin and nearby towns and villages, isolating the town, while imposing a 48-hour curfew.
Meanwhile, Israeli military vehicles demolished part of the walls of the Martyrs’ Cemetery, which contains the tombs of 45 Iraqi soldiers who fought against the occupation in 1948; the site holds great historical and social significance to Palestinians.
The Israeli army continued its military offensive against the city of Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp, for the 34th consecutive day.
In another escalation, Israeli forces sent at least three Merkova tanks to the city of Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp, while local youths hurled rocks at the armored vehicles.
It is important to mention that the last time occupation forces deployed tanks into the Jenin governorate was in 2002 during the large-scale assault against the city and its camp.
Furthermore, occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Yamoun, northwest of Jenin, deployed infantry units throughout the streets, invaded several homes and abducted an undetermined number of citizens.
Moreover, the army invaded the Silat al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin, deployed infantry units throughout the streets, and forced local shops to close, while armed resistance fighters targeted the invading army.
