In a statement, the Jerusalem Governorate warned of the dangerous incitement carried out by so-called extremist “Temple” organizations amid the continued closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for ten consecutive days.

On Monday, the Jerusalem Governorate stated that the current situation is part of a political and ideological scheme aimed at changing the religious, historical and legal reality of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate stressed that the Islamic Waqf Department is the sole legal body in control of the affairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling its ongoing closure a dangerous precedent.

It added that the Israeli authorities continued closure and restriction of Muslim worshippers constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and freedom of worship.

For its part, the Jerusalem Affairs Department warned against the alarming incitement by extremist settler groups promoting the so-called “Passover sacrifice” inside the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in the context of the upcoming Passover holiday.

In a press statement released Monday, the Department said that extremist “Temple” groups are leading incitement campaigns involving the dissemination of propaganda materials with the goal of impose a new religious reality in occupied Jerusalem.

It added that these extremist groups share the same objective as the right-wing Israeli government whose aspiration is to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound temporally and spatially.

It is important to mention that occupation authorities have continued to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque hours after the US and Israel initiated their military offensive against the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Israeli authorities forces invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque, hours after the attack on Iran commenced, and forcibly removed Palestinian worshippers before imposing a complete closure, under the alleged pretext of a state of emergency.
